Colonel Chase has been actively training and showing dogs since the early 1970’s even though his military career restricted participation to but a few dogs. Both he and his wife Kathy train for conformation and performance and until moving to Kentucky in 2006, handled their own dogs in both venues. They breed and show under the Mariner prefix and are proud Mariner Kennels continually produces quality Golden Retrievers equally at home in the show ring, the duck blind or resting comfortable on the family couch.
He is a long-time member of the Golden Retriever Club of America currently serving as President. He is also a member of Yankee Golden Retriever Club, Golden Retriever Club of Greater Louisville and the Lexington Kennel Club. Additionally, he and his wife Kathy are founders and current board members of the Nicholas County Animal Welfare Society, which in just the past year alone has placed over 500 strays and unwanted dogs in loving homes.
Colonel Chase served 25 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, holds a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and is an award-winning freelance photographer. He resides with his wife Kathy on a small horse farm near Lexington, Kentucky where he enjoys caring for and riding his horses.
